Where to find Menston CC

Menston CC is based at the ‘Fox & Hounds Ground’ near the junction of the A65 Ilkley Road and the A6038 to Otley, adjacent to the Fox Restaurant/Pub.
Players and spectators are respectfully asked to keep parking to an absolute minimum in the Fox car park.

A brief history of the Club
The Club was founded in 1880 and played at several venues in the village, including Menston Hall and a field behind the Malt Shovel. In 1887 the Club moved to its present ground at the Fox & Hounds, using the old farmhouse and stables as the pavilion. Up to 1939 the Club played in the Yorkshire Council but then switched to the Airedale and Wharfedale League in which it has competed ever since. Also in 1939 the Club became a founder member of the Airedale Junior League. The surrounds of the ground took on their present appearance in 1966 when the old outbuildings behind the hotel were demolished to make way for a new car park. More recently a new scorebox was built in the far corner of the ground near the railway in 1989. The Club celebrated its centenary in 1980 with matches against Yorkshire (who included Fred Trueman) and the M.C.C. Famous players to have represented the Club include W.E. (Bill) Bowes in 1945 and New Zealand test players Martin Crowe and Derek Stirling in 1986.
